Bradley Leeper and Jim McCaffery, Owners

In the early fall of 2023, after training jiu-jitsu, Bradley asked Jim if he was free to meet for a beer later in the week. During their conversation, Brad shared something deeply personal—his close, lifelong friend had recently and unexpectedly taken his own life. The news came as a shock, leaving everyone who knew him devastated. That day, Brad and Jim sat together for hours, processing the grief and heartache. Over the weeks and months that followed, they continued to meet, reflecting on the complex journey of loss and healing.  During one of these conversations, Brad shared fond memories of cycling adventures and exploring the world of craft beer and cider with his late friend. He also mentioned his passion for crafting his own wines and ciders at home over the years.  Although Jim knew little about the craft, he suggested they take up the tradition as a way to honor Brad’s friend. Both agreed it was a meaningful idea, though neither knew exactly where to start.

But life had more challenges in store. One morning, Jim received an unexpected call—his estranged father had passed away during the night. This time, it was Brad’s turn to offer the strength and support Jim needed to navigate this profound loss.

In a moment of clarity, the two friends realized that experiencing two significant losses in such a short span of time was a wake-up call. It was time to take action and bring their shared vision to life.

And so, Survivalist Cider Company was born. Two friends, shaped by some of life’s most challenging trials, came out stronger on the other side—fueled by love, resilience, and an unbreakable spirit. This is the heart of Survivalist Cider: a testament to the belief that anything is possible when you refuse to give up and surround yourself with positive, uplifting people. After enduring years of struggle, growth, and ultimately triumph, we are proud to share the soul of Survivalist Cider with you. Together, we celebrate the power of perseverance and the beauty of turning life’s hardships into something extraordinary.
